Terms of use

These terms cover use of the Northfirst website at https://northfirst.icu/ and the commissioning of photo and video production. By sending a brief, paying a deposit or using the site you offer to contract with Northfirst, Broughton Street 74, Edinburgh EH1 3SA, United Kingdom.

Estimates and dates

Estimates cover crew, equipment, studio or location, and finishing as listed. Third-party costs (talent, locations, catering, travel, stock, licences, overtime) are extra unless written otherwise. A date is held once a deposit is paid. Cancellation and postponement fees follow the estimate and call sheet. Weather, illness and loss of access beyond reasonable control may move a day; we rebook in good faith.

Delivery

We deliver stills and motion in the formats named in the wrap email, usually colour-managed stills, Rec.709 or HDR masters, and agreed cutdowns. Raw camera files remain working material unless the contract buys a raw licence. The approved grade is the delivery reference. Social crops and language versions are included only if listed.

Turnaround starts when selects or a locked cut are approved in writing. Late feedback pauses the clock. Retrieving a working project after the revision window is quoted separately.

Intellectual property

Until invoices are paid, Northfirst keeps copyright in commissioned work. On full payment, usage is licensed as specified (territory, term, media, exclusivity). Use outside that licence, including training generative systems on the files or stock resale, is not granted. Treatments and unaccepted pitches stay our copyright.

Client materials (products, logos, talent releases, confidential decks) remain the client’s property and are used only to make the job. The client confirms it holds the rights to the people and products we photograph, scan or rebuild in CGI, and will indemnify the studio against claims arising from those materials.

On set

The studio may refuse work that is unlawful or would reasonably endanger crew. Clients and visitors follow the call sheet, insurance limits and house rules at Broughton Street 74, Edinburgh EH1 3SA, United Kingdom.

Liability

We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of data beyond reasonable backup practice, or indirect loss. Liability is capped at the fees paid for the job in question, except where the law of Scotland forbids a cap, including injury caused by our negligence.

Law
